Dr. Peter Jay Epstein, OD

Dr. Peter Epstein grew up in the Bronx, New York. He attended the University of New York at New Paltz and went on to graduate from the Illinois College of Optometry with an OD degree in 1974. Dr. Epstein has been in the optometric business for over 32 years, in various types of practices. He has been with Bloomingdale Optical since 1993, on the first day of business. Dr. Epstein specializes in contact lenses, low vision aides and visual therapy.

On a more personal note, Dr. Epstein enjoys baseball, tennis and working out. He is an avid White Sox and Bears fan, plays the saxophone and enjoys spending time with his family.


Dr. Cathy A. Hersh

Dr. Cathy Hersh attended the University of Michigan for her undergraduate studies, and the Illinois College of Optometry, earning her Bachelor of Science degree and Doctor of Optometry degree. She has been practicing optometry since 1984, and has been established at Bloomingdale Optical since 2000.

Dr. Hersh is dedicated to her patient's welfare. Her specialty areas include contact lenses and family eye care. She also has extensive experience with difficult to fit contact lenses, including specialty lenses for keratoconus. Dr. Hersh is a member of many professional organizations, including the American Optometric Association (AOA), the Illinois Optometric Association, the Contact Lens and Cornea Section of the AOA, the Illinois Society for the Prevention of Blindness, and was awarded the Empire Who's Who Award for 2005-2006.

Dr. Hersh continually does volunteer work in the community and in the schools. She enjoys music, reading, baking, and spending time with her family, friends, and dog.


Dr. Martha McAllister

Dr. Martha McAllister attended the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls for her undergraduate studies. In 1988 she graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry with a Doctor of Optometry degree.

Dr. McAllister joined the staff at Bloomingdale Optical in 2007, and specializes in contact lenses and family eye care. She is a member of the American Optometric Association (AOA), the Illinois Optometric Association, and the Contact Lens and Cornea Section of the AOA.

Dr. McAllister does volunteer work in the community and at her son’s school. In her spare time she enjoys music, reading, traveling, spending time with her family, and cheering on the Chicago sports teams.
